Backstage

Backstage is a new age punk-rock band that’s been together since October 2001. Our career started in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Band is formed by ex-members of two ex-bands Opozicija and P.I.T.A. Sometime after both bands broke up the existing members decided to meet at  first rehearsal at Metelkowa mesto. Recording started with two demos (our own production), then in November 2002 we decided to go to studio, where we recorded the single Confused. In December we shot the video for it. Video won the best video of the month award on our national television. In the beginning of April 2004 we signed a record deal with Nika Records, and spent the summer in the studio recording our first self-titled album. Consisting of 26 songs, the album came out in February 2004 and was supported by another successful video for the song Misel nate. After the release of the record we started touring around Slovenia, mostly clubs, but also some festivals and bigger stages. During the tour we shot our third video Sofistikator. We’ve had quite a few abroad gigs, including 2 times in Croatia with the Beatsteaks, Aerodrome festival in Austria and Popkomm in Germany. In 2006 we released our second album called Trends are changing, that includes 12 songs. Album was promoted with a video for the song Believe in me. Good critics of the album and improved live performances got us a deal with Roadshock booking agency that increased the number of our shows in Germany and Austria. In November 2007 we went on a tour to South Africa for 3 weeks followed by a long break due to Miha Brezavscek leaving the band. In early 2009 we started playing again with Tomaz Pislar and Andrej Ogris on guitars. In October 2009 the new line up recorded a single called Dougcajt that became song of the week on the national radio station. In January 2010 we recorded a video for the song Bitter end. Then in May we supported Slovenian punk legends Niet at an open air show at Krizanke in the center of Ljubljana. The third album called Independent was released at the end of the year. Since then we’ve mostly been playing shows around Slovenia and Austria including 3 appearances at the biggest Punk rock festival in the area Punk Rock Holiday and released an EP called Ipi in 2015.
